Wuhu City in Anhui Province initiated a program to install GPS video surveillance and alarm systems in taxicabs across the city in August. It is projected that all of the city"s 3,024 cabs wiil be equipped with security cameras by mid-October. Wuhu is not alone in adopting such a system. Several other Chinese cities, including Chongqing, Xi"an and Nanchang, have engaged in a similar campaign.
