日記是用來記敘自己一天生活中所看到、遇到、想到和做過的事情，特別是那些具有教育意義或值得回憶、查閱或參考的事情，也可以用來抒發(fā)自己當天對某些事件的感受，以及對將來的打算等。因此，要記的內(nèi)容豐富多彩，這正是日記題材廣泛，選材容易的原因。體裁以記敘文或簡單的議論文為主。

寫日記時一般要注意以下幾點：

1. 格式：英文日記和中文日記的寫法大致相同。一般是第一行寫日期、星期、天氣狀況。日期通常頂格寫，后面是星期，天氣狀況寫在右上角。表示天氣情況的詞一般用形容詞，如：fine ，cold ，rainy ，windy ，cloudy ，sunny ，snowy ，foggy 等。正文部分另起一行。

2. 人稱：日記要用第一人稱寫。

3. 時態(tài)：寫日記的時間一般是在下午或晚上，有時也有在第二天補記。所記敘的事情通常發(fā)生在過去，所以常用一般過去時。但如果要記敘天氣、描寫景色、展望未來、議論某事或?qū)υ捯�語等，可以使用一般現(xiàn)在時或一般將來時，以生動再現(xiàn)當時的情景。

4. 日記的寫作順序：日記一般按照時間順序或事情的經(jīng)過來寫。語言要清楚、自然，內(nèi)容要連貫、完整。

5. 類型：日記可分為記事型、議論型、描寫型以及抒情型等。記事型日記，就是用所學英語詞匯記述當天自己生活中所發(fā)生的事情。議論型，就是對生活中的某一事件或情況、現(xiàn)象發(fā)表自己的看法。描寫型就是對某人、某物的特征進行細致地描述，或?qū)δ呈挛锸惆l(fā)自己的感情。

例如：請以下述內(nèi)容為題，寫一篇日記。 3 月 15 日，星期一。詞數(shù)： 60 ～ 80 詞。提示：

①今晚，你去參加李江的生日晚會，大家又唱又跳，玩得很開心。②離開李江家時，天開始下雨，由于已很晚了，你步行回家；③一輛摩托車急馳而過，在十字路口撞倒了一個男孩。④摩托車沒停，逃跑了。⑤你十分氣憤，記下了車號（ FD － 2819 ）后馬上打電話報警，并把孩子送往醫(yī)院。
