　　湖北省公安縣人，1956年生。1974--1977下鄉(xiāng)插隊(duì)務(wù)農(nóng)；
1977-1982在華中理工大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)系就讀、任教;1982年獲數(shù)學(xué)碩士學(xué)位。1983-1987年在美國(guó)明尼蘇達(dá)大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)系攻讀博士學(xué)位，并獲明尼蘇達(dá)大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)博士學(xué)位，博士論文獲全美斯隆博士論文獎(jiǎng);1987-1990為美國(guó)德洲A&M大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)系助教授(Assistant Professor);1991年破格提前提升為副教授并獲得終生任期教授資格(tenure)，并為德國(guó)康思藤斯(Konstanz)大學(xué)客座教授;1995年被提前提升為終身任期正教授，1998年被美國(guó)德州A&M大學(xué)授予杰出人才獎(jiǎng)�，F(xiàn)為德州A&M大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)系教授、民營(yíng)企業(yè)研究中心高級(jí)研究員、上海財(cái)經(jīng)大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)院院長(zhǎng)、長(zhǎng)江學(xué)者講座教授、中國(guó)國(guó)務(wù)院發(fā)展研究中心國(guó)際技術(shù)與經(jīng)濟(jì)研究所顧問(wèn)，同時(shí)也是香港科技大學(xué)、華中科技大學(xué)、西北大學(xué)等大學(xué)的兼職教授，曾任清華大學(xué)特聘教授。在對(duì)1990-2000年全球著名1000名經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)家的出版物與被引用次數(shù)進(jìn)行中分別第282位與第504位，在華人經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)家中排名分別為第4位與第6位。列入2003年由英國(guó)Edward Elgar出版社出版、英國(guó)著名經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)術(shù)史專家Mark Blaug 和 Howard Vane根據(jù)社會(huì)科學(xué)文獻(xiàn)引證索引所收錄的全世界最有影響的700多名經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)家《經(jīng)濟(jì)家名人錄》(《Who is Who in Economics》) 。

　　田國(guó)強(qiáng)曾任中國(guó)留美經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)會(huì)會(huì)長(zhǎng)(1991-1992)，中國(guó)旅美社會(huì)科學(xué)教授協(xié)會(huì)首屆主席(1995-1997)。于1992年6月在中國(guó)留美經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)會(huì)年會(huì)上被選為首批學(xué)會(huì)資深研究員(Fellow)。曾任德洲A&M大學(xué)中國(guó)學(xué)生學(xué)者聯(lián)誼會(huì)顧問(wèn)(1988-1998)，國(guó)際英文學(xué)術(shù)期刊《經(jīng)濟(jì)與金融年報(bào)》和《中國(guó)經(jīng)濟(jì)評(píng)論》共同主編、《中國(guó)研究評(píng)論》，及中文學(xué)術(shù)期刊《經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)(季刊)》、《經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)報(bào)》等的編委。主編的《市場(chǎng)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)普及叢書(shū)》(十四冊(cè))由上海人民出版社和香港智慧出版有限公司于93年10月聯(lián)合在大陸出版，并獲94年度四個(gè)大獎(jiǎng):國(guó)家級(jí)圖書(shū)專業(yè)大獎(jiǎng)---\"中國(guó)圖書(shū)獎(jiǎng)\"; 由共青團(tuán)中央、文化部、廣播電影電視部及新聞出版署四個(gè)中央級(jí)單位聯(lián)合組織評(píng)發(fā)的國(guó)家級(jí)大獎(jiǎng)---\"首屆中國(guó)青年優(yōu)秀圖書(shū)獎(jiǎng)\";\"華東地區(qū)優(yōu)秀政治理論圖書(shū)一等獎(jiǎng)\"及\"上海市優(yōu)秀圖書(shū)(1991-1993.10)一等獎(jiǎng)。
