Travel the World
or Just Come to Weihai!
In the whole country, Weihai is the city nearest to Korea and Japan. Situated on the frontier of trade between China and Korea and Japan, Weihai is on the easternmost tip of Shandong Peninsula and used to be the concession of the UK. The naval harbor of Liugong Island in Weihai used to be the naval base for the Beiyang Navy during the Qing Dynasty.
Weihai people are famous for being homely, pragmatic and honest. Being open-minded and tolerant, they work hard in every career. In the future, two nuclear power stations will be constructed in Rushan and Rongcheng.
Weihai is situated at the foot of mountains and beside the sea, a coastline of many reefs and bays. The coastline, forest belts, bathing beach and islands together make Weihai a tourist attraction famous worldwide. Entering downtown Weihai, one can see row upon row of buildings covered with red roofs. In 1991, Weihai was listed by the national government as Chinas first hygiene city. Later, it was granted the Habitat Scroll of Honour Award by the UN-Habitat and was listed the National Tourism Bureau as one of Chinas first group of top tourist cities.
Since I have been involved in tourism for a long time, I have been to many countries. However, the more places I visited, the deeper the feeling I had: travel the world or just come to Weihai!
