在2002年12月3日之前,很多中國人也許根本不知道世博會(huì)是何物。這一天,在摩納哥蒙特卡洛,經(jīng)過國際展覽局第132次成員國大會(huì)投票表決,中國成功獲得了2010年上海世界博覽會(huì)的舉辦權(quán)。此后的中國開始進(jìn)入“世博”時(shí)代。
　　能在中國舉辦世博會(huì),是一代代中國人的盼望。經(jīng)過100多年的積淀與求索,終于在北京奧運(yùn)會(huì)的兩年之后,世博會(huì)又在中國上海精彩亮相。
　　“舉全國之力,集中華智慧,共同辦好世博盛會(huì)�！睘榱诉@個(gè)承諾,184天的世博會(huì),中國精心準(zhǔn)備了8年。
　　8年的時(shí)間里,全國人民聚智聚力,把上海世博會(huì)建設(shè)成了參展面積最大、參展人數(shù)最多的一屆世博會(huì),并上首次開辟城市最佳實(shí)踐區(qū)和“網(wǎng)上世博”,以最好的成績向世界交出一份完美的答卷。
　　“城市,讓生活更美好”。這一世紀(jì)性的主題承載著人們對(duì)全球未來合作與人類未來發(fā)展的深邃思考和廣泛共識(shí),將是上海世博會(huì)為世界人民留下有關(guān)城市的一份豐厚的精神遺產(chǎn),從而使上海世博會(huì)真正成為世界各國人民的一次偉大聚會(huì),以最為廣泛的參與度載入世博會(huì)的史冊(cè)。

This will be the rich spiritual heritage the Shanghai World Expo will leave for people worldwide. As a result, the World Expo will become a great gathering event of people from all counries.
